Job description

In this hands-on team leader role, you will manage a middleware development team while also contributing to the design and implementation of solutions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Lead team of 3 to 5 Systems Management administrators
  2. Manage support and administration of Middleware infrastructure consisting of: Savvion BPM, BMC Patrol, BMC Control-M, Tibco ESB, and Weblogic servers
  3. Responsible for defining, auditing, and managing defined operating procedures for the day-to-day operations of Middleware infrastructure
  4. Review IT projects with regards to labor estimation, hardware sizing and recommendations for Middleware infrastructure
  5. Ensure proper deployment, auditing, and tracking of enterprise Middleware product licenses
  6. Manage configuration and maintenance of Middleware products/platforms
  7. Manage security models/mechanisms associated with each Middleware product
  8. Troubleshoot Middleware infrastructure problems of various levels of magnitude in a timely fashion
  9. Manage support of Middleware development efforts, including some design, construction, and implementation
  10. Develop and maintain best practices and enterprise standards for Middleware infrastructure
  11. Evaluate and perform associated hot-fixes/patches/upgrades
  12. Provide capacity planning
  13. Plan and manage disaster recovery plans for Middleware infrastructure
  14. Provide key performance metrics of Middleware infrastructure for management dashboard
  15. Remain aware of latest versions, new product capabilities, setup and installation requirements and base product functionality associated with the portfolio of Middleware products
  16. Responsible for developing/co-coordinating/supporting system implementation notices for Middleware infrastructure changes
  17. Provide problem resolution following ITIL incident management principles through the use of a Remedy-based trouble ticketing system

Qualifications:

  1. University degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related
  2. Strong interpersonal, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills
  3. Strong verbal, written communication skills and team player attitude is essential
  4. Demonstrated strong teamwork ethic
  5. Demonstrated team lead experience in IT
  6. Minimum 1-3 years relevant work experience using 1-3 of the following Middleware products: Tibco components: Business Works, EMS, Hawk, and Rendezvous; Savvion BPM; BMC Patrol; BMC Control-M; Weblogic; FTP/PGP encryption
  7. Experience with integrating Middleware with Oracle and SQL Server databases
  8. Experience with UML tool desirable
  9. Experience with UNIX scripting on SUN Solaris/HP-UX platforms required
  10. Some experience with Windows Host scripting language required
  11. Experience with XML/XSD/XLST/XPATH desirable
  12. Experience with Java/J2EE, C/C++, JavaScript, .NET (Visual Basic/C#) desirable
  13. Experience administering PGP encryption, as well as using SSH, SSL
  14. Some demonstrated experience with monitoring tools
  15. Some demonstrated experience with job control tools
  16. Demonstrated experience in working in IT environments having set incident and change management processes required
  17. Working experience with 3rd party Remedy tool as a vehicle for incident management is a definite plus
  18. Knowledge/experience with ERWin/related data modeling software an asset
  19. Knowledge/some experience with EMC SANs required
  20. Knowledge/experience in related Systems management products such as Tivoli and Unicenter would be considered
