SENIOR SUPERVISOR, MILL OPERATIONS

The Senior Supervisor, Mill Operations leads the team to deliver safe, productive, responsible, and efficient mill operations including, but not limited to operational planning and coordination of shutdowns and projects. They maximize operational reliability by establishing baseline performance standards, and leading the execution and delivery of process improvement. The Senior Supervisor, Mill Operations supports, coaches, trains and creates space for the mill operations teams to be successful including some mill and contractor supervision when required.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
• Understand mill processes, plans activities to enable close collaboration with shift supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel in preparing and coordinating mill supporting activities.
• Efficiently and accurately manage mill operations team members and contractors to ensure safe and reliable mill operations.
• Optimize mill systems to minimize disruption and maximize productivity, efficiency and safety.
• Liaise with maintenance and metallurgy departments to minimize impacts of production and maintenance delays.
• Provide and support communication links between production, maintenance, technical services, and operations employees.
• Create space for the team to be effective in delivering results.
• Foster an inclusive work environment.
• Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required for contractors.
• Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the current and future needs of Côté Gold.
• Promote a high-performance culture by setting expectations and providing feedback and coaching.
• Offer new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.

Area 2:

• Establish baseline performance standards for the mill which includes developing and updating PI trends, standard operating procedures, operational inspections/check sheets and more.
• Assist, support and lead mill related health and safety initiatives.
• Establish systems and standards to monitor mill performance.
• Lead the execution and delivery of process improvements.
• Ensure that employees are kept informed of safety, production, and cost performance data, to encourage growth and participation in potential improvements to each KPI.
• Be pro-active and solution driven and implement operational improvements.
• Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
• Continually seek to improve your skills as a Senior Specialist, Mill Operations.
• Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
• Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
• Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
• Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).

Area 3:

• Provide leadership and guidance to the contractors, supervisor, equipment operators and stakeholders to ensure that the business and mine/mill plan objectives are met.
• Coordinate with other team members on site to meet operational deliverables.
• Help mentor and train new team members.
• Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
• Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
• Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
• Participates in the morning safety huddles.
• Ensure shift cross over logs are accurate and complete.

Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• College diploma or university degree in a related field is considered an asset.
• Ministry Supervisor Training considered an asset.
• A minimum of 8 years of related work experience with a minimum of 2 years of related leadership experience.
• 5 years or more of technical and mechanical experience is highly desirable, but not essential.
• Proficient in performance management.
• Understand efficiency drivers in a milling operation.
• Previous exposure to contractor management in a mill is highly desirable, but not essential.
• Previous exposure to automated or supervisory controls in a mill is highly desirable, but not essential.
• Previous exposure to lean and multi-disciplinary team leadership is desirable, but not essential.
• Digital literacy and experience with maintenance management systems (Oracle), is desirable, but not essential.
• Knowledge and experience in a gold milling environment is highly desirable.
• Ability to make effective, intuitive decisions under pressure.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and empower multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proven communication skills, both verbal, written and non-verbal.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Self-motivated individual who is driven to find solutions and strive for continuous improvement in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
