Job description

WSP is seeking a Senior Structural Geologist to join our Mine Stability and Engineering group. In this role, you will formulate 3D interpretations and complex geological models, analyzing geoscience data and reports, and supervise field investigations. You will play a leadership role in the group, providing mentorship to junior and intermediate professionals, and work with a growing team of structural geologists and engineers.

Please note that although the posting is listed with Vancouver as primary location, we are flexible with offices across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and supervise field investigations;
  • Formulate 3-D interpretations and models;
  • Analyze geoscientific data and write reports;
  • Interpret the implications of the ground conditions in the context of each specific client project while working alongside engineers, scientists, and other technical, administrative and support staff;
  • Demonstrate leadership, decision-making, and coaching skills, with emphasis on developing and mentoring young professionals;
  • Travel as required.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor Degree in geology from a recognized university and/or equivalent qualification;
  • Minimum 10+ years of geological interpretation and modelling experience in a variety of commodities and deposit types, preferably within a consulting environment;
  • The ability to establish and maintain solid client relationships;
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and problem-solving skills;
  • Highly effective leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior employees;
  • Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff;
  • Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold WSP’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values.

Compensation:

Salary range (in British Columbia): $122,500 - $168,500. The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
