The Online Infrastructure team is the backbone of Affirm engineering. We provide the Kubernetes-based platform, traffic engineering, and supporting services that run all of Affirm - enabling management, configuration, provisioning, and operation of our computing infrastructure. We deliver a platform for infrastructure and product engineering teams to run their workloads at scale. Our customers are not only Affirm users, but also other engineering teams at Affirm. We aspire to provide simple and self-serve interfaces that are used daily by every engineer at Affirm.

What you’ll do

1. Lead technical decisions, projects, and roadmaps within the Online Infrastructure team. You will shape and own Affirm’s strategy for managing and serving our computing workloads.
2. Collaborate with peers, leadership, and stakeholders across the platform engineering and product engineering organizations.
3. Design and implement frameworks, services, and tools to handle new Affirm products and business needs that can securely scale across millions of users and their transactions.
4. Guide, tutor, and aid in the professional growth of junior and senior engineers within the team, promoting best practices in design, coding, and testing.

What we look for

1. 10+ years of software development experience.
2. Proficient in Kubernetes, OpenShift, or other container orchestration technologies.
3. Experience with cloud-native traffic management, networking, and security concepts at scale (Istio, Cilium, eBPF).
4. Experience in designing and creating cloud-native CD systems with ArgoCD, Flux, or similar technologies.
5. Solid CS fundamentals and practical coding and debugging experience using modern software delivery methods to develop services with Python, Go, C++, or JVM-based languages (Java, Kotlin, Scala).
6. Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure Cloud, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or other cloud providers.
7. Familiarity with Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) is a plus. Our stack includes Kubernetes, Docker, Envoy, Istio, and Nginx, but we are open to exploring new technologies.
8. Have an enthusiastic vision for leading technical teams and mentoring other engineers.
9. You prefer leveraging, enhancing, and contributing to Open Source solutions rather than starting from scratch.

Base Pay Grade- R

Equity Grade- 8

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). In addition, the employees may be eligible for equity rewards offered by Affirm Holdings, Inc. (parent company).

CAN base pay range per year: $206,000 - $256,000 CAD

Location: Remote - Canada
