A well-established firm with over 35 years in business is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team in Kelowna. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accountant looking to take on a senior role within a respected firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public practice accounting and will either be enrolled in or have completed the CPA program.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of accounting, tax preparation, and compliance, while also providing leadership and training to junior staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to grow within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review bookkeeping, including GST/PST/WCB returns and Source Deduction remittances.
  • Prepare and review T4 filings, corporate income tax returns, and personal income tax returns.
  • Provide tax planning services for corporate and personal income taxes.
  • Train and oversee junior staff members, ensuring high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Perform other accounting and client service duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Enrolment in or completion of the CPA program is required.
  • Previous public practice work experience is essential.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, staff, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, including Simply/Sage, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, CaseWare, and TaxCycle, as well as Microsoft Office and internet tools.

Compensation and Benefits
This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,000 to $90,000 annually, depending on your education, experience, and fit within the team. The benefits package includes:
