About the role:
Join the Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics Team, in the Senior Specialist, Business Intelligence position. In this role, you will be responsible for improving our BI practice, designing and implementing BI solutions, and supporting our BI Community of Practice. You will also collaborate with various stakeholders to turn data into insights. This is a temporary position of a duration of 15 months.

What you'll do:
  1. Provide direction on the implementation and execution of Business Intelligence Solution Operation Strategy and CMHC's technological escalation on new initiatives, and advise internal and external clients, including members of management.
  2. Conduct Business Intelligence intakes including value cases creation and demonstration of analytics capabilities.
  3. Ensure quality control of all BI solution development projects throughout the delivery life cycle.
  4. Lead divisional BI research activities including innovative, relevant, and timely publication, and BI technology integration and innovation.
  5. Perform knowledge transfer to understand the principles/techniques utilization and develop/introduce best practices to drive organizational buy-in.
  6. Handle complex and difficult Business Intelligence inquiries and escalate highly complex issues/barriers/findings to relevant stakeholders with advice and recommendations to improve decision-making and drive business performance.
  7. Present and communicate Business Intelligence solutions in an efficient and easily understandable way to a wide variety of audiences (internal/external, technical/non-technical), including senior management.
  8. Collaborate with various lines of business, IT partners and working groups to provide BI Solution subject matter expertise, gather business knowledge and influence the adoption and implementation of infrastructure and technology choices that support the maturity of the BI capability at CMHC.

What you should have:
  1. An Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or any other related quantitative field.
  2. A minimum of seven years of relevant work experience in developing and implementing BI solutions, data mining and modelling, management of large and complex data sets and ability to transform and prepare data to feed models.
  3. A demonstrated experience with Microsoft Power BI in designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing dashboard and reporting solutions with a focus on usability, user experience and performance.
  4. A demonstrated experience in project management work experience in Business Intelligence area with cross-organization data volume. Strong ability to manage several projects and utilizing industry standards and best practices.
  5. The expert ability to identify, assess and manage risk to ensure excellent outcomes are achieved for stakeholders including advanced proficiency with Power BI security methodologies, aligning business use cases with security solutions.
  6. Strong communication skills to engage various levels of stakeholders (Senior management/technical/non-technical) effectively, and advanced ability to make a persuasive, clear presentation in training/knowledge sharing perspective.
  7. Sound qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize information to develop strategic business plans.
  8. A highly developed proficiency in Data Analysis Expression (DAX), M, ETL (Power Query), SQL (or data extraction and integration tools) and performance optimization. Strong knowledge of R/Python and ability to learn new tools as needed.

It would be great if you also had:
  1. CMHC business knowledge.
  2. Predictive/Prescriptive Analytics Power BI certifications.
  3. Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning.
