ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Tester is a member of HSO’s Digital House. The Digital House is a dynamic, cross-functional team comprised of Software Engineers, QA Engineers, and Product Managers who work closely with internal and external parties to build a new digital experience for our users.

As a Senior QA Tester in the Software Applications team, the use of Agile methodology and Scrum is something you embrace! Your passion for testing means you exhibit exceptional testing skills, attention to detail, a passion for customer advocacy, and a high degree of adaptability and creativity. You have a track record of designing and executing manual tests. You’re not afraid to take initiative and ownership and you make sure to stay on top of the latest and greatest in technology.

If you’re right for this opportunity, you are ready to jump in! You thrive on beating deadlines and surpassing expectations. You have a winning attitude and love to learn from and collaborate with others. Having a full plate doesn’t intimidate but motivates you and you have a knack for triaging multiple priorities and juggling tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the QA team, developers, and product owners to understand user scenarios, to transform high-level requirements into optimized manual tests.
  • With a passion for testing, you advocate for, and contribute to, achieving the highest possible level of testing in support of delivering quality software.
  • Analyze test results and submit quality defect reports; when required, provide support to development engineers to aid in defect resolution.
  • Develop and execute manual test cases.
  • Take ownership of maintaining the suite of tests.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment that requires agile, clear thinking for quick turnaround of accurate, high-quality deliverables while managing multiple priorities.
  • Stay abreast of current technologies and industry trends; leverage all technology to its fullest.
  • Find innovative solutions to any problems that may arise, including working with developers to reproduce issues/defects.
  • Use your excellent communication skills: the ability to clearly explain complex technical issues to colleagues and stakeholders, with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams.
  • Take initiative; know when to check-in, but won’t let it slow you down. You are willing to go the extra mile when it’s crunch time.
  • Be a flexible team player; contribute positively to the culture of our workplace by staying positive, engaged in the work you do, and energized by the difference you’re making.

Must Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Solid background in software quality assurance, with 7+ years experience as a QA Tester.
  • Experience with developing automated tests using Java and Selenium.
  • Experience in building manual tests for web apps.
  • Proven ability to take user requirements and build a robust suite of manual tests.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in writing high-quality maintainable tests.
  • Experience working on Software and/or IT project(s) in a team environment.
  • Experience working within the Azure DevOps environment.
  • Experience in using a test case repository and defect management tool.
  • Experience building a testing environment; knowledge of virtualization, cloud, and container technologies.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A passion for software quality, solid problem-solving skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail is imperative.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to communicate with external and internal business and technical audiences.
  • Experience adapting to change quickly, multi-tasking, and working under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies.
  • A willingness and ability to be coachable, to learn and implement best practices.
  • Experience working with clients/organizations in the health-care sector.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work well either independently or in a cross-disciplinary team, remote or co-located.
