Job Description
The Senior Signalling Engineer will be responsible for the signalling related technical activities. You will join the technical advisory team working with rail transport clients in the Ontario province, with future possibility to work on design contracts.
In this exciting role, you will provide advice on all aspects of rail signalling including the interpretation of documentation, expertise of feasibility, design, installation of signalling equipment and systems. You’ll be responsible for any investigation into signalling equipment and systems, production of reports and any recommendations.
In addition, you’ll provide technical support at client meetings and ensure that you keep up to date with legislation and standards and ensure that this is reflected in the various stages of each project as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review signalling design work within an urban rail environment.
- Manage signalling preliminary, intermediate and detailed design reviews for signalling discipline to ensure compliance with the project specifications.
- Maintain and update the Requirements, develop the plans and procedures for signalling discipline.
- Serve as technical expert to take signalling related decisions, review design proposals for technical solutions, make recommendations, resolve technical clashes, etc.
- Manage a team of local signalling engineers who will:
- Review signalling design deliverable packages including drawings and other items.
- Prepare signalling specifications for both outline and detailed designs.
- Prepare procurement specifications to support new and modified designs.
- Maintain a good understanding of Egis business standards of safety, quality, and design.
Qualifications:
- University degree at minimum Bachelor’s level of a recognized Electrical / Electronic Engineering Faculty, or Chartered Engineer status.
- General overall experience of at least 10 years in the signalling railways field.
- Experience in signalling for main line / commuter rail projects in the region.
- Proven experience in technical design for urban rail environment with appropriate experience leading a design team in a project driven organization, infrastructure environment.
- Excellent communication skills and capacity to develop good relations at work and fluent in English.
- Experience working in a technical environment as part of a team is required.
- Determined to act in a responsible way in business activities as well as in social and environmental impact.
