Job Summary
At Gemina Laboratories, we are developing novel biomedical technologies to improve the performance, cost and sustainability of solutions for diagnostics and more. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our RnD team. This individual will be responsible for leading protein design, expression, purification, and characterization efforts. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our scientific understanding and contributing to the development of Gemina’s protein chemistry.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design, develop, and implement expression strategies from gene-to-protein, using various host systems (e.g., bacterial, yeast, mammalian cells).
  2. Establish and optimize purification protocols for recombinant proteins, including chromatography and filtration techniques.
  3. Perform biophysical and biochemical characterization of purified proteins (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, spectroscopic methods, binding assays).
  4. Contribute to project planning, experimental design, and data analysis.
  5. Maintain accurate records of experiments, protocols, and results in compliance with company guidelines.
  6. Stay current with scientific literature and industry trends to propose and implement innovative approaches.
  7. Provide technical guidance and mentor junior team members.

Qualifications:

  1. PhD in Protein Chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific discipline with 5-8 years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience or M.Sc. with >8-10 years of relevant industry experience, respectively.
  2. Proven expertise in protein expression, purification, and characterization techniques.
  3. Hands-on experience with various protein expression systems (e.g., E. coli, yeast, mammalian cells) and purification methodologies (e.g., affinity chromatography, SEC).
  4. Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using relevant software tools such as regression analysis in Excel.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data effectively.
  6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
  7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to protein production and characterization.
  2. Experience in scaling up protein production processes and technology transfer is highly desirable.
  3. Track record of scientific publications and/or patent applications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $103,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
