Job Summary

The Risk Advisor - IT Risk Management role is essential in supporting the day-to-day operations, identification, and mitigation of operational, IT, and regulatory risks. As a result of work performed as part of this role, you will greatly contribute towards the implementation of Technology Integration (TI) initiatives aimed at improving technology operations risk management practices.

Your expertise will be crucial in driving change and overall improvement across the organization’s approach to IT and Cyber risk. This position offers opportunities to work across the organization, functions, and make a significant impact.

You will drive risk assessment process utilizing our TI Risk developed Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) tooling to independently evaluating the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of controls utilized by platform teams and provide recommendations where appropriate to key stakeholders. Additionally, you will work with various teams to evaluate application readiness for deployment into RBC private and/or public cloud environments validating that various assessment gates have been completed, cyber hygiene and best security practices are in place and any risk identified are appropriately documented with respective remediation plans in place.

What will you do?

  • Leading in the development, implementation and enforcement of organization-wide security risk assessment and control standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitoring and assessing business needs against security concerns and recommending necessary changes to enhance information systems security.
  • Managing activities for IT risks in business operations; ensuring that the server, network operations and applications are compliant with security procedures, systems, and policies.
  • Managing and maintaining the QRA tool including associated risk and control libraries.

Must Have:

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Industry recognized qualifications and/or certifications in Cloud, Information Security and/or Risk Management (eg. CISA,CISSP, CCSP, CRISC).
  • A strong understanding of technology and cyber risk management is crucial.
  • Problem solving, analytical (including qualitative analysis), research, and quantitative skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management capabilities are essential. You must be deadline-driven and results-oriented, able to consistently meet high-quality standards while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated excellence in both written and oral communication is a must.
  • An understanding of the financial services industry and technologies utilized.

Nice To Have:

  • Familiarity with financial regulatory environments, will greatly enhance your ability to succeed in this role.
  • Strong knowledge of rules, regulations and compliance requirements for the financial services industry concerning hybrid cloud and multiple technology domains specific to the areas of oversight.
  • Working experience in cybersecurity space.
