About This Team
Global Retail Design Innovation collaborates and co-creates with internal business units to develop, innovate and evolve retail experiential concepts, retail store design, and retail fixture design that embody the unique lululemon experience.
The overall team is responsible for the establishment, governance and maintenance of global store design principles, guidelines and prototypical templates to ensure consistent design cues reinforce a strong experiential brand identity. Through clarity, focus and coordination we support the business strategies and elevate the guest experience through retail design innovation.
Job Summary
- Be a conceptual designer who can strategically demonstrate a concept narrative.
- Challenge Store Design, working closely with a creative team, providing content for discussion through research, mood-boarding, sketch, visual development and agile working practices.
- Manage a wide range of creative led projects that include architectural store design, mobile and pop-up activations, custom fabrications and guest experiences.
- Develop experiential concepts that elevate and innovate the guest and educator experience within the retail environment.
- Taking strategic direction from Director, set design direction, create visual communications and prototypes, that represent the store design and communicate to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Balance divergent and convergent thinking within cross-functional business units to identify retail design experience opportunities.
- Through collaboration with cross-functional partners, work through the innovation process from opportunity identification, concept development, prototyping, piloting.
- Engage with cross-functional partners to evaluate all aspects of the design process from defining guest profiles using research methodologies, physical and/or digital prototyping and documentation of learnings and principles.
- Work cross-functionally with teams in Operations, Brand, Store Development, Visual Merchandising, Retail Brand Experience and other business units throughout the organization as well as external vendors, artists and creatives to create beautiful, transformational experiences at our retail locations.
- Experience in campaign and product led experiences a bonus.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop design from concept to details, being able to hand off ideas and communicate clearly an idea through moodboards, sketches and visuals.
- Be a strategic and insight led creative, designing concepts with purpose for our brand and our guests.
- Research, benchmark and conduct market case studies on competitors in the experiential marketplace – as well as gather insights, trends, best practices and consumer behaviors to inform development of brand-centered experiences, and innovations.
- Ideate new fixture strategies, VM opportunities, retail experiences with a concentration of our Brand integration into experiential retail design.
- Develop content for and produce presentation decks and design packages.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in creative sprints and innovation charrettes.
- Manage materials and resources for Black Box (prototype lab) material library.
- Work closely developing concepts as a highly collaborative designer with Industrial Designers, Graphic Designers, Stores Designers, Experience Designers.
- Ability to write and manage briefs for external partners.
Qualifications
- BA or equivalent required in design focused major (architecture, interior design, industrial design).
- 8 years minimum experience as Concept/Spatial Designer with strong project management skills in the following areas: creative agency, retail or design.
- Proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
- Strong proficiency in 3D modeling with Cinema4D. Corona renderer or Vray a bonus but not essential.
- Passion for and understanding of design and innovation.
- Passion for critical, logical, creative problem solving.
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate actively and proactively with others in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal, visual and presenter communication skills to diverse business stakeholders of various management types and levels of the organization.

Compensation and Benefits Package
lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from CAD $103,500 - 135,900 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.

Hybrid - In-person collaboration is important, and much of the role can be performed remotely. Work is performed onsite at least 3 days per week.
