Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Senior Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials (HAZ) team including Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) in our Sault Ste. Marie office.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Project Technologist will complete investigations into indoor air quality including mould and assessments for designated substances including asbestos, lead and PCB sampling, and will assist in developing various types of hygiene, health and safety documentation, prepare technical reports and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met.
Pinchin provides hands-on and virtual training and is seeking an individual with experience in some of the above and below tasks with willingness to learn the variety of services offered as a HAZ Tech.
A Day in the life of a Sr. Project Technologist at Pinchin:
- Complete assessments for mould, indoor air quality (IAQ), industrial hygiene, designated substances, and other hazardous materials.
- Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site-specific client concerns.
- Perform inspections and evaluating building systems.
- Assess building damages related to floods, water losses, smoke and fire and provide remediation solutions.
- Collect mould and bacteria samples.
- Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed.
- Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples.
- Perform designated substances assessments, including hazardous building materials and identify and sample suspect asbestos, lead, and PCB-containing materials.
- Conduct invasive building assessments and testing (roof cut tests, water / leak tests, etc.)
- Aid to develop designs and specifications for abatement/restoration projects.
- Prepare detailed reports to present HAZ or IEQ findings, data interpretation, recommendations and detailed AutoCAD drawings.
- Financial involvement and aid in coordination of project.
- Maintain QA/QC, health and safety protocols.
- Maintain and enhance quality control within the group.
- Business development to existing clients.
- Liaise between clients and contractors; maintaining existing client relationships and building new ones.
- Schedule field reviews with clients and contractors.
- Ensure the well-being and safety of workers and building occupants where Pinchin projects are present.
- Support in training junior staff.
- Perform any other job-related duties that may be assigned.
What You Bring To The Pinchin Team:
- College Diploma in Building Science, Architectural Technology / Science, Construction Technology or Civil Engineering Technology. Bachelor of Science or Applied Science is preferred.
- Related post-secondary education an asset.
- Three to five years of practical experience in the field of HAZ and/or IEQ.
- C.E.T. or related designations will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation/guidelines.
- Experience with building construction or maintenance and familiarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.) preferred.
- Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawings.
- Experience working with environmental monitoring equipment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Excellent technical report writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
- Ability to safely transport and carry 20-foot extension or folding ladder, hand tools and PPE is required.
- Availability to work outside our core business hours, rotational weekends and travel is required.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle required (work related travel expenses will be compensated).
- Note that some clients require security clearances and/or drug and alcohol testing to gain access to certain job sites.
