Senior Project Manager, Wastewater and Water

Job Details

Lead, manage and conduct project development and implementation for Wastewater Treatment Facilities and Water Services projects. Provide advanced project management, project planning, oversight and technical expertise in the design, tender, construction and final commissioning of municipal projects. Oversee all aspects of project delivery for assigned wastewater and water projects that are led by consultants. Provide back-up to the Director, Facilities and Property Management as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge and experience normally associated with a four (4) year University Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience designing wastewater treatment facilities and water systems with at least 3-4 years in a Project Management role delivering wastewater treatment facilities or water projects; or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. Project management certificates/courses would be considered an asset.

Requirements

1. Strong technical foundation in hydraulics, water and wastewater regulations, treatment and pumping.
2. Demonstrated experience leading projects and teams for the delivery of capital projects.
3. Demonstrated leadership, management, administration, and team-building skills to direct the work of others including consultants and contractors.
4. Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. the Ontario Building Code, Construction Act, Municipal Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, AODA etc.) and regulations and guidelines (Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), Ontario Water Resources Act, and Environmental Protection Act, Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) and the Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) for water and wastewater systems).
5. Excellent communication skills for making presentations to large groups, facilitating public meetings, directing and guiding consultants, and responding to inquiries of the media and public.
6. Extensive experience in contract tendering and administration.
7. Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to successfully guide the work of others including consultants and contractors.
8. Advanced report writing skills to prepare formal analysis and recommendations for Council and senior staff.
9. Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of software applications (e.g. GIS platforms, MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, AutoCAD etc.).
10. A valid driver’s license to fulfil the requirements of the position and the ability to work extended hours to attend evening meetings, as required.

Salary

$124,072- 135,619 per year.
