Job description

Our valued higher education client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and implement multiple digital transformation initiatives for a higher education client! Initial 6-month contract opportunity with the possibility of extension. Primarily remote with quarterly on-site meetings and some ad-hoc on-site work required (two weeks' notice will be provided). 7.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

As the successful candidate, you will provide project planning, monitoring, and management support for the IT Services PMO. Tasks could include project planning, resourcing, staffing, vendor assessment, progress reporting, stakeholder management, communication in steering and cost benefit analysis/tracking.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the established project vision.
  2. Participate in the definition of project objectives and scope and a list of deliverables by collaborating with project sponsors and stakeholders.
  3. Develop and maintain up-to-date project plans by identifying deliverables, reckoning duration, and participating in human resources designation for tasks; develop and manage the detailed project schedule and project management plans (e.g. requirements, scope, schedule, cost, communication, resource, risk, issue, change management, quality, etc.).
  4. Follow and control the project evolution and communicate the progress made in line with corporate policies and standards; effectively facilitate meetings and create presentations related to milestones, issue resolution, project status; conduct overall project/program reporting; identify problem situations, handle them, take action and suggest solutions.
  5. Manage project risks including contingency and critical path. Manage problems and risk factors with governance in place.
  6. Integrate and evaluate the Change Management Approach. Monitor implementation efforts and transition issues to ensure business risks are identified and solutions are recommended. Ensure follow-up and troubleshoot problems.
  7. Make sure an appropriate methodology is used throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure the team has all the necessary tools to do its job.
  8. Provide high-quality project and program management standards across the whole project lifecycle.
  9. Lead and manage multi-disciplinary professional teams.
  10. Lead communications and relationships with clients and their stakeholders.
  11. Produce monthly reports including project programs, risk registers, etc.
  12. Business Case Development and Implementation by collaborating with all stakeholders and business partners to develop a comprehensive business case for implementing the recommendations.

Must Have Skills:

  1. 8+ years as a Project Manager with 5+ years demonstrated experience leading large multi-million dollar initiatives (e.g. cloud transformation projects, ITSM implementation projects, or other digital transformation initiatives).
  2. Strong experience dealing with vendor management.
  3. Project management certification (PMP, Prince2, Agile).
  4. Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field within Information Technology.
  5. Demonstrated experience supporting the implementation of a student information system (SIS) or managing integration projects between a large portfolio of legacy applications.
  6. Demonstrated experience supporting clients within the higher education/academia industry.
