Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead engineering, procurement, and manufacturing projects for the nuclear industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in manufacturing and fabrication, combined with exceptional project management skills. This role involves overseeing the full project lifecycle from initiation to delivery, ensuring compliance with nuclear industry standards, cost control, and timely execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management & Execution:
    - Lead and manage projects related to manufacturing components and containers for the nuclear industry.
    - Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company objectives.
    - Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary to stay on track with scope, cost, and timeline.
    - Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, quality assurance, and manufacturing.
    - Manage risks proactively and implement mitigation plans.
    - Ensure adherence to nuclear regulatory and safety standards.
  2. Stakeholder & Communication Management:
    - Act as the primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and internal teams regarding project status and technical requirements.
    - Facilitate project meetings, prepare reports, and maintain clear documentation.
    - Work closely with quality control and compliance teams to ensure all deliverables meet industry standards and customer expectations.
    - Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  3. Budgeting & Cost Control:
    - Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability.
    - Track expenses, monitor financial performance, and report variances.
    - Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
  4. Compliance & Safety:
    - Ensure all projects comply with nuclear industry regulations (e.g., ASME, CSA, CNSC, or other applicable standards).
    - Maintain a strong safety culture and enforce adherence to workplace health and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Education & Experience:
    - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
    - PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.
    - Minimum 5-10 years of project management experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
    - Experience in the nuclear industry is highly preferred.
  2. Technical Skills:
    - Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes; Nuclear industry experience will be an asset.
    - Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management for engineered products.
    - Familiarity with nuclear quality standards (e.g., ASME BPVC, CSA N299, ISO 9001).
    - In-depth understanding of and experience in project management and control techniques such as Earned Value Management (EVM), project risk management, etc.
    - Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar software).
  3. Soft Skills:
    - Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
    - Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    - Effective communication and negotiation skills.
    - Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    - Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with container manufacturing for nuclear waste storage or transport.
  2. Knowledge of CANDU reactor components or similar nuclear technologies.
  3. Experience working with regulatory bodies such as CNSC (Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $82,527.21-$140,000.00 per year
