This position reports to

Operations Manager & HPR

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the technical lead for all engineering activities in assignments. Each day, you will ensure the activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by acting as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completing the corresponding engineering assignments.

Your main responsibilities:

1. Plan and coordinate engineering activities of large industrial electrification projects involving pre-fabricated E-houses, MV & LV switchgears, Variable frequency Drives, Control, Protection, Instrumentation, MCC transformers, motor generators, Auxiliary Systems and HVAC Systems.
2. Coordinate and validate technical studies (asset): Short-circuit, Load flow, Protection Coordination and Arc Flash.
3. Responsible for the technical coordination with the customer, the internal engineering team, suppliers of equipment & services, and other stakeholders involved in the project.
4. Prepare equipment layouts for electrical and control rooms; Evaluate heat losses and selection of HVAC units.
5. Prepare cable & interconnection lists, cable tray layouts & cable routing.
6. Produce technical specifications, control and manage engineering changes during project execution. Also, participate in the preparation of RFQ’s and bid evaluations & analysis.
7. Technical follow-up during engineering, procurement & construction.
8. Installation supervision and commissioning in industrial sites and produce cost estimation of turnkey projects, generate deliverable list and schedule for entire project.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering.
• 10 years of related experience in the field of industrial electrification projects and mining industry.
• Member of OIQ (or P.Eng. from other Canadian provinces).
• Knowledge of the electrical standards (ANSI, CSA, IEEE, UL and others).
• Availability to travel within Canada.
• Site supervision and control system knowledge are assets.
• Knowledge of software such as ETAP, SKM, ACAD, SmartPlant or Microstation.
• Bilingual: French, English. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
