Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team in our Mississauga, Ontario office. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to take on complex projects, lead engineering designs, and provide mentorship to junior staff while playing a key role in expanding our engineering capabilities in Ontario and across Canada.

About the Role:

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical engineering services, including HVAC and plumbing designs, low-carbon solutions, and energy efficiency projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, provide technical guidance, and help grow the Mississauga office's engineering practice. You will also mentor and guide more junior staff and delegate and review work as appropriate to their skill level.

You Will Report To:

Until the Mechanical Engineering business leadership is established in Mississauga, the Senior Project Engineer will report to the National Practice Lead for Mechanical, while also receiving local support for day-to-day operations from the Mississauga office.

What you will be doing at Pinchin:

  1. Lead the design and engineering of HVAC, plumbing, and low-carbon electrification projects for commercial, institutional, and residential facilities.
  2. Prepare detailed engineering designs for district energy and heat pump-based systems, including system layouts, specifications, and construction documents.
  3. Conduct site inspections, system performance monitoring, and provide engineering assessments for existing and new systems.
  4. Prepare cost estimates, technical reports, feasibility studies, and business cases for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
  5. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical expertise to other groups within Pinchin.
  6. Assist in business development activities, including preparing proposals and maintaining strong client relationships.
  7. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technologists, supporting their growth and development.
  8. Stay current with industry trends, standards, and best practices to support ongoing improvement in our engineering practice.
  9. Meet prospective clients, introduce them to Pinchin, and demonstrate our technical capabilities and solutions.

What you bring to the Pinchin team:

  1. A university degree in Mechanical Engineering and a P.Eng. designation in Ontario. Additional certifications such as LEED or CEM are advantageous.
  2. 10+ years of experience in consulting engineering, with a strong background in building HVAC and plumbing system design, particularly hydronic systems for heating and cooling.
  3. Experience in energy audits, energy modeling, and evaluating energy efficiency measures for building mechanical systems.
  4. Proficiency in engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, IES, and Trace.
  5. Excellent technical writing, research, and verbal communication skills.
  6. Strong organizational, project management, and client relationship skills.
  7. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various client sites locally and to adjacent provinces.
