The Role

The Senior Production Manager will oversee operations at a plastic injection molding plant and different assembly lines. The role involves ensuring the smooth running of production lines, optimizing workflow, enhancing efficiency, and meeting production targets. This role also requires some knowledge of chemical processes to support the chemistry production department.

This role is based in Baie D'Urfé, Quebec, and reports to the Director of Operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Management:

  1. Supervise and manage day-to-day operations of the different production areas and units.
  2. Implement and monitor production schedules, ensuring timely delivery and quality output.
  3. Lead the production team, ensuring they follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety regulations, and quality control measures.

Optimization:

  1. Analyze production data to identify areas of improvement, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency.
  2. Develop and implement lean manufacturing techniques to minimize waste and optimize plant performance.
  3. Manage, mentor, and train production staff, ensuring clear communication, team motivation, and productivity.
  4. Foster a collaborative working environment that promotes safety, quality, and innovation.

Chemical Product Line Oversight:

  1. Apply chemical knowledge to oversee the production of different products involving chemical processes, ensuring compliance with chemical safety standards.
  2. Collaborate with R&D and quality control teams to ensure products meet specifications and regulatory standards.

Safety and Compliance:

  1. Ensure that all the manufacturing and operations areas are compliant with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  2. Conduct safety audits and enforce a safety-first culture across production lines.

Quality Assurance:

  1. Collaborate with quality control teams to maintain high standards in product quality, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Budgeting & Reporting:

  1. Manage budgets related to production operations and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
  2. Generate regular production reports for senior management, providing insights on performance, challenges, and improvements.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemistry, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a production management role, ideally within plastic injection molding or a similar manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong understanding of chemical processes, safety, and regulations related to chemistry-based products.
  4. Experience in lean manufacturing, process optimization, and team leadership.
  5. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  6. Fully bilingual (written and spoken), English and French.
  7. Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement and LEAN culture across an organization. LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt an asset.
  8. Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead teams to achieve goals.
  9. Knowledge of warehousing and distribution management principles and practices.
