Role: The Product Owner has to demonstrate a balanced blend of business and industry knowledge, technical knowledge, UX/UI understanding, acute prioritization skill and natural leadership. He/she will be required to gather formal business requirements, write up user stories, and contribute to design. This position is for you if you are not afraid to speak API and Insurance in the same conversation; if you have an opinion on iOS vs. Android; and, if you understand and can explain the parametrization possibilities of your Facebook account.
Your Day with Equisoft:
- Work closely with Product Management, Technical Architects and UX expert to align business strategies with technology solutions
- Prioritize features to align with product strategy and various customer demands
- Work closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI
- Reconcile various customer demands to make one single product
- Research and analyze market, the users, and the roadmap for the product
- Lead the functional design process of key product features, including configuration capabilities
- Assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate them into a viable design
- Gather input from various stakeholders and translate them into business requirements and/or user stories
- Act as owner of the development of detailed business, functional and non-functional requirements documentation
- Lead sprint pre-planning sessions with the Development Technical Lead and Product Manager to define next sprint priorities and scope
- Lead the planning sessions and POC initiatives
- Create the needed Jira tasks for the sprint and partner with the Technical Architect and Technical Lead to confirm logical task breakdown and other details
- Participate in and support pre-sales and sales teams as needed
- Demonstrate products both internally and externally
Requirements
Technical skills
- Bachelor's Degree in computer engineering or information Technology or College Diploma combined to 3 years of relevant experience
- 5+ years working for a life insurance company or in a similar role
- Solid Knowledge of the Life and Health insurance products and processes is an asset
- 8+ years acting in a Product owner or analyst capacity role
- Experience working with a B2B and/or configurable software product
- Excellent leadership skills
- Excellent proficiency in both English and French (presentation, oral and written)

- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize activities effectively
