Role: Senior Product Manager, Rare Disease

The Sr. Product Manager is accountable for leading the integrated brand team and commercial strategy for the launch of TEPEZZA, a first in market therapy for patients living with Thyroid Eye Disease (TED). This role will report directly to the Business Unit Director.

This Sr. Marketing position is responsible for leading the brand launch of TEPEZZA and to establish Amgen as valued strategic partner in the Rare Disease space. Critical to success will be the ability to rapidly engage with current teams, and brand planning, to execute launch, while refining and defining brand strategy to meet the needs of TED patients over the next 5 years.

The goal is to establish Amgen Canada as a leader in Rare Disease patient care by aligning customer facing activities to therapeutic area customer values and patient focused outcomes. The RDBU Product Sr. Manager will require proven skills in strategic decision-making skills, business development, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure achievement of BU strategic organizational mission/goals.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Canadian TEPEZZA integrated brand team in defining and executing the TEPEZZA Canadian Commercial Strategy, including leading the cross-functional planning and execution of Strategic Brand Plan for TEPEZZA.
  • Support a flawless launch of TEPEZZA by partnering with regional/global commercial leads to ensure optimal utilization of global resources and tailoring those resources to local market dynamics.
  • Accountable for marketing/commercial communication platform deliverables executed with the highest quality and tailored to meet the needs of our core customers.
  • Rapidly becomes TEPEZZA commercial expert to provide perspective to the cross-functional/regional/global teams pre-post TEPEZZA launch.
  • Develops a robust knowledge of TED therapeutic landscape including deep insights into the patient journey, customer experience, marketplace, competitors, and business drivers.
  • Entrench data driven analyses into decision making and POA opportunities. Develop business cases to support emerging opportunities.
  • Responsible for managing effective brand P/L including, leading forecast planning and OPEX management across the integrated brand team.
  • Build rapport with TED Key Opinion Leaders and other patient journey stakeholders, to gain insights into the patient journey and ensure customer needs at the centre of our communication deliverables.
  • Partner with Regional/Global Value Access & Policy teams to ensure appropriate patient identification and optimal access for Canadian TED patients.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships with internal partners (medical affairs, regulatory, market access, etc.) and external partners (agencies, clinical practice societies, patient advocacy groups and KOLs) to ensure the brand(s) objectives are achieved.
  • Ensuring passion for performance and achievement, is balanced with patient centricity and compliance – win the right way.

Travel:

  • This role will require national and International Travel.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 3 years of pharmaceutical/medical industry experience.

Or

Master’s degree and 6 years of pharmaceutical/medical industry experience.

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of pharmaceutical/medical industry experience.

And

Minimum 3 years of direct Marketing experience in Biopharma and experience leading brand teams, projects, programs with direct responsibility for management of brand resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of biopharmaceutical experience.
  • Experience in Rare disease marketing a strong asset.
  • Experience in Ophthalmology, and/or Endocrinology a strong asset.
  • Proven track-record of leading high-performing teams a strong asset.
  • Proven track-record of cross-functional collaboration and working well with others to achieve organizational goals.

Skills / Knowledge / Experience:

  • Strong project and/or brand management skills.
  • Successful product launch experience in Canada.
  • Sales & marketing experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving, critical thinking & data driven decision making skills.
  • Initiative-taking and results orientated - desire to win.
  • Adaptable/Flexible.
  • Strong customer-facing skills; understand the value drivers, the key decision makers, and influencers.
  • Highly intuitive, a deal maker, tenacious, focused, a good listener.
  • Act as a role model for others in line with Amgen values.
