Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for a Senior Policy and Governance Analyst to join our team in Burnaby!
The Senior Policy and Governance Analyst is responsible for supporting and developing the organization’s governance processes and practices, including coordinating input into draft policy, implementing and maintaining the policy management framework, and supporting the organization’s government relations activities. The role also supports the Manager, Governance and Policy in leading the delivery of the organization’s governance functions, including Board nominations, Board Elections, and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Conducting research and in-depth analysis including identifying issues and implications, evaluating options, and developing recommendations on matters pertaining to government proposals, and new policy and legislation.
- Conducting research, in-depth analysis, and support for organizational governance processes, including researching practices at comparable organizations, preparing and evaluating options, and developing recommendations and reports in support of these functions. Assisting in the development of correspondence related to these functions.
- Working with internal partners to support the organization’s implementation of new policy and regulatory requirements, including supporting the development of new bylaws, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinating the policy response/development process by providing project planning, tracking, and reporting, as well as researching and liaising with internal and external partners to assess implications of government policy proposals and develop responses.
- Supporting the work of the Governance Sub-Committee by developing reports and related meeting materials, and providing guidance to the Chair and committee members.
- Leading the Board Nominations process in accordance with the merit-based selection framework, ensuring compliance with the Act, Regulation and Bylaws. This includes building strong relationships with external partners and registrants and leading the work of the Nomination Committee.
- Leading the annual Board election project to ensure successful delivery of the election, and accuracy and adherence to the Board approved election policy and Bylaws. This includes developing the project plan; developing a communications plan; establishing timelines; leading project meetings; managing communication with candidates; working with the web team to design election web layout; and ensuring accuracy of material.
- Leading the delivery of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) through planning, organizing, executing, and facilitating day-of. Working cross-departmentally to ensure AGM success.
- Supporting the planning and implementation of the government relations program, including research, analysis, correspondence, identifying and tracking issues for engagement, coordinating the planning and delivery of meetings and events, tracking and reporting lobbying activities, and tracking organizational progress in government relations objectives.
- Other duties as assigned by direct leader and, as appropriate, members of the divisional leadership team.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- 5-7 years experience working in a policy or public administration environment that involved independent project management.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
- Experience with communications planning and execution, including independent development of communications materials.
- Demonstrated experience in policy development and a strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
- Demonstrated experience in government relations, including coordinating engagement activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills to ensure that projects and initiatives are delivered on time; ability to handle multiple priorities and urgent deadlines.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $85,000 to $95,000.
