The Healthcare Human Resources Branch of the Ministry of Health serves the health care sector, including the Ministry, in the areas of health workforce planning and policy; regional and agency support; strategic initiatives and advice; nursing policy; and labour relations.
The Governance and Relationship Management unit has an exciting opportunity for a policy analyst, focusing on stakeholder relations. The position will be best suited for a highly motivated, proactive, and results oriented individual who is able to multi-task on different projects in a fast-paced environment.
Reporting to the unit Director, the position requires the incumbent to provide research, analysis, support and advice on a range of health care issues and policy development. Additional functions include providing advice and recommendations, facilitating group discussions and consultations as well as working proactively with sector stakeholders. Gathering data, assessing health human resource needs, identifying solutions and strategies are all required to ensure critical health human resources are available.
Working with key industry employers the individual will develop or adapt policy, proactively identify opportunities or concerns and provide analysis that will guide future strategies.
To join this challenging, innovative and supportive working environment, the successful candidates will have experience in working with stakeholders, communities, policy work around recruitment strategies, knowledge of the current state of health human resources, key issues in the recruitment and retention of workers, program delivery and community relationship development. Previous experience with government and knowledge of reporting, cabinet documents, briefing notes and other related reporting is essential. Given the strong connectivity to Indigenous communities and cultural sensitivity required in analysis around HHR, preference will be given to those qualified candidates who self-declare as Indigenous.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would have been gained through completion of a degree in social science, health administration or a related discipline, along with experience in public policy development.
The salary for this position will be updated to $48.852 - $61.219 once the Class Plan Renewal process is completed and the HR system has been updated.
