Job description

Nemesis is looking for a hands-on Senior Pastry Chef to join our existing team. The chef is a crucial part of our operations, the backbone of the pastry experience at Nemesis. You will be responsible for leading, motivating and directing our Pastry team while overseeing the quality, consistency, and presentation of our pastry program. We pride ourselves on our pastries and our baking program; we have a seasonal menu, everything is made in house, and we are constantly evolving our program. General requirements of this position are:

  1. Oversee and direct kitchen personnel including training and development of a team of 6-10 staff
  2. Inventory and cost control
  3. Scheduling
  4. High standards in hygiene and cleanliness
  5. Food Safe Level 1 required to meet Health Canada requirements
  6. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing people and a pastry operation
  7. Menu creation, recipe development, and execution
  8. A mature self-starter with a strong work ethic
  9. Strong communication and organisational skills
  10. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  11. Demonstrates hands-on approach to all baker/pastry products produced in the Pastry Department ensuring quality, presentation and consistency standards meet company standards.
  12. Physically fit to meet the physical aspects of the position
  13. Ordering of food and kitchen supplies
