Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Oil Market Economist to join the Strategic Studies & Market Analysis Division (SS&MA) in Saudi Aramco’s Crude Oil Sales & Marketing Department (COSMD), located in Dhahran. The Strategic Studies & Market Analysis Division (SS&MA) is responsible for providing support to the business through the following functions: Market Analysis, Strategy, Planning, Performance Monitoring & Reporting, and Data Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in a specialized area with crude oil placement strategy and market analysis. Focus on developing expertise in a specialized area to support departmental needs. Work under the direction of the group leader and/or department head.
  • Participate in analysis and strategy development that addresses short- and long-term highly complex issues and problems as required by senior management. Mentor, train, and develop others.
  • Undertake complex studies within developed area of expertise that can impact the company’s present and future operations. Act independently with agreed objectives.
  • Regularly monitor the development of existing and emerging market trends to forecast their viability and evolution over time. Direct and/or coordinate work task forces on special studies and consult directly with Executive Management on issues as they arise.
  • Prepare and present plans, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and recommendations to Management and others on a broad range of petroleum market issues as they arise.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on complex planning and analysis problems to senior planning and analytical personnel and to Executive Management.

Minimum Requirements

A successful candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or Engineering from a recognized and approved program. A relevant advanced degree in economics, energy, or MBA may also be an advantage.

As a minimum requirement, the candidate must have over 20 years in the downstream petroleum industry with extensive experience in the International crude oil markets and assumed responsibilities including market analysis and research, refinery feedstock procurement and optimization, price-reporting agencies, commodity exchange, or crude oil trading/marketing. The candidate needs to have mature knowledge of global crude oil market balances and flows; pricing dynamics and structures; and methodologies of reporting agencies and exchange contracts. Familiarity with refinery and petrochemicals, linear programming, and investment financial modeling are also highly regarded.
