YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will be responsible for providing mine engineering services, including coordination and optimization of efficient and safe mining operations involving production, pit maintenance and technical services. You will work cross-departmentally with operations, maintenance, process plant and other functions to ensure the plan is communicated and executed effectively. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Ensure compliance to HSSE policies, standards and procedures, ensuring team members are fully trained and able to perform their duties safely;
- Develop and support the execution of strategic monthly and quarterly mine plans and designs;
- Work in collaboration with all site functions to determine plan, input parameters and assumptions, ensuring all design work (pit slopes, dumps, stockpiles, roads, drill and blast) comply to AE standards and legislative requirements;
- Work collaboratively with long term mine planning engineers to provide input to five-year and LOM plans;
- Ensure that mining plans are consistent with data from geology, survey, maintenance, geotechnical, safety and environment;
- Provide blending plans for the plant production forecast;
- Define stockpile plans and strategy in coordination with all the required departments;
- Lead initiatives to increase mine production efficiencies, maximization of economic return and smart cost reduction;
- Liaise with mine operations to ensure practicality of designs; visit project and operation areas to ascertain designs and plans are properly implemented and manage any changes;
- Provide coaching and mentoring to staff and coordinate staff assignments and workloads;
- Lead positive changes to ensure systems, planning and processes are aligned with internal metrics and deliverables, including the identification of business improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of mine engineering procedures related to safety, costs, production, maintenance and budgeting.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering with eligibility for P.Eng registration with the PEO;
- Strong safety leadership capability;
- Minimum 8 years’ technical and operational experience in an open pit mining environment;
- Experience in a range of mine engineering roles including short term mine planning, drill and blast, production support, and mine operations in large and diversified mine sites, with preference for experience in conventional open pit hard rock gold operations;
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to influence and a high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity;
- Self-starter, strong facilitation and communication skills (oral, written, listening);
- Deep understanding of value drivers, and ability to drive fact-based problem solving and decision-making;
- High level of competence in the use of mine planning software, including optimization techniques. Experience with Vulcan, Minesight and Deswik software a strong asset;
- Experience with Fleet Management Systems (Wenco) and use of reporting and analytical tools;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
- Hybrid Schedule: 4/3 on site, followed by 5/2 working from home or in office;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
