POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting into the Director of Medical Writing, the Senior Medical Writer is responsible for crafting medical advertising copy that aligns with both brand standards and pharmaceutical industry regulations. We are looking for someone who possesses medical and scientific expertise, is well-versed in pharmaceutical advertising and regulations, and has experience working in a Health advertising agency. As a member of our Toronto studio, you will join a dynamic, globally-minded team surrounded by some of the brightest minds in their fields and get to work in one of the newest WPP campuses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce material that follows client briefs for a variety of audiences including healthcare professional, patients and consumers
  • Partner with account services team, art directors, creative copywriters and clients to produce deliverables that meet communication objectives
  • Distill scientific content into promotional and educational materials for varied audiences (e.g. healthcare professionals, patients, pharmaceutical sales representatives, etc.)
  • Ensure scientific accuracy and compliance of content that upholds both client requirements and county-specific regulatory guidelines (PAAB, ASC, Health Canada, FDA, ABPI, OPDP – whichever is needed based on client)
  • Build arguments to support the client in their response to regulatory bodies
  • Prioritize and perform multiple tasks under established deadlines
  • Be a brand expert, with in-depth knowledge of the therapeutic area(s)
  • Work on brand assignments that require more experience and strategic knowledge
  • Mentor and train medical writers
  • Review the work of freelancers and back-up writers to ensure consistency and accuracy of information
  • Participate in new business pitches as needed
  • Collaborate with all teams across the agency

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g. MSc or PhD in Science preferred)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role in an agency environment
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Bilingualism is a strong asset
  • Ability to write brand-appropriate creative pieces (digital or print)
  • Solid understanding of digital communications
  • Knowledge of PAAB, FDA and other regulatory bodies an asset
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Meticulous and thorough with attention to detail
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to establish good interpersonal relationships
  • Support team or agency initiatives as assigned
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Comfortable with the MS Office suite of programs
