We are currently seeking a:
Senior Mechanical Engineer, Analysis who specializes in Mechanical Design Analysis, providing technical and operational leadership, having superior client relations skills and a proven ability to deliver major assignments.
Your role within the team:
As a member of our Reactor & Major Components - Analysis team, you will:
- Lead a team to complete the design analysis of CANDU reactor components, systems, and structures including Mechanical equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design nuclear pressure boundary components.
- Prepare formal technical reports.
- Review design documents, calculations, and analysis reports.
- Prepare engineering budgets and support proposal preparation.
- Execute engineering activities within budget and schedule.
- Provide accurate reporting of engineering work to technical and project managers.
- Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering-related matters.
- Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy Quality Assurance programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulation requirements.
- Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines or departments to execute assigned engineering work.
The ideal candidate:
- A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a university of recognized standing.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- At least 8-12 years of related work experience in the field of design and analysis of complex mechanical systems or equipment (working knowledge of the CANDU design, and fuel channel and Calandria Vessel design is preferred).
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experienced in the interpretation of GD&T.
- Drive for continuous learning by own initiative.
- Experience in classical stress calculation.
- Experience in finite element analysis using ANSYS/LS-DYNA/ABAQUS.
- Familiarity with ASME Section III pressure boundary design and CSA N285.0.
- Good time management skills.
