Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, M&E, this position will be responsible for applying their mechanical engineering knowledge on project work from conceptual design through completion in the following areas: commercial, industrial, healthcare, and institutional buildings. Technical quality, cost effectiveness, building and maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to a team of designers/technicians are integral parts of this role.

What you can expect to do here:

1. Responsible for taking design projects from start to finish and applying a high level of technical, professional engineering and consulting expertise.
2. Familiar with National, Provincial and Municipal Codes and Standards. Ensures the design documents meet established project criteria and applicable standards. Coordinates the preparation of engineering specifications and drawings.
3. Utilizes industry specific software and related technologies in design and analysis.
4. Participates in client management, business development and proposal preparation activities.
5. Prepare engineering design including calculations, specifications and drawings for the following building systems:
1. HVAC
2. Plumbing
3. Fire Protection
4. Fuel Systems
6. You will be responsible to project manage some projects including financial review and maintaining budget and meeting milestones deliverables.
7. Attend design and coordination meetings.
8. Responsible for reviewing project construction and managing construction engineering correspondence.
9. Peer review junior engineers' work.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

1. 10+ years of related experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment with a professional engineering designation.
2. Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P. Eng.).
3. You currently hold or are able to obtain a secret level security clearance.
4. LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are highly desirable qualifications.
5. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Carrier Hourly Analysis (HAP) or Trane TRACE software, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are required.
6. Proficiency with MEP Revit is highly desirable.
