Compensation Range

$7,622.83 - $11,886.67 CAD Monthly

The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Programs Operations will be responsible for developing and managing both new and existing initiatives of entrepreneurship@UBC in association with the Associate Director, developing operational policies and procedures internally for the organization, and in close collaboration with the executive team, the management of logistics for 100+ events per year. This role is also accountable for the data analytics needs of the unit, including the management of data reporting by current and alumni ventures, regular analysis and reporting of statistics to multiple stakeholders (including the entrepreneurship@UBC Management Team, the Innovation UBC Management Team, VPRI, UBC Faculties and Departments, and external stakeholders and constituents), and the organization and administration of software systems to support venture success.

Reporting to, and working closely with, the Associate Director and other team members, this position requires the continuous identification of process improvements, with a focus on improving productivity and workflow efficiencies.

Organizational Status

Reports to the Associate Director at entrepreneurship@UBC (entrepreneurship@UBC).

Work Performed

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to conceptualize, design and implement organization-wide processes to streamline and continuously improve entrepreneurship@UBC's complex program model.
  • Conceptualize, define and design plans to execute the organization's programmatic initiatives amid competing and changing priorities of internal and external stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Develops and manages new initiatives, such as new programs that are designed by the Management Team and/or Program Director.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of policies and procedures for entrepreneurship@UBC programs and team responsibilities in order to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Responsible for the oversight and management of entrepreneurship@UBC current and new program delivery.
  • Accountable for program/project delivery and for the development of initiatives and programs.
  • Accountable for identifying similar project plans between program executions and developing and writing SOPs (standard operating procedures) to increase organizational efficiency by streamlining processes.
  • Lead the execution of the organization's incubation and acceleration programs, overseeing the logistics team.
  • Oversees and executes on the entrepreneurship@UBC Program Budget, in coordination with the Senior Manager, Administration.
  • Responsible for overseeing the data analytics needs of the organization.
  • Responsible for the creation, development and submission of annual performance reports.
  • Administer, oversees & configures organization's operational and program software.
  • Project Management of short-term projects, working with members of the Management Team, as necessary.
  • This position initiates, manages and executes projects independently.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

Decisions directly affect the effective and efficient operation of the entrepreneurship@UBC unit and the VPRI portfolio, entrepreneurial programming within the faculties, and potential success of new ventures.

Supervision Received

This position manages projects independently and exercises independent judgment and initiative in addressing complex issues.

Supervision Given

This position manages the Program Specialist roles.

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of five years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred. Experience in venture-creation or venture incubation/acceleration an asset.

  • Negotiate and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Manage multiple projects and initiatives in an intense, fast-paced environment.
  • Supervise an employee.
  • Administer CRM systems and project management software.
