Senior Manager, Indirect Tax

As a Senior Manager, Indirect Tax your responsibilities will include:

1. Lead engagements regarding indirect tax solutions including principal involvement in advisory, compliance, due diligence, cross border strategies and other tax planning opportunities.
2. Liaise with tax authorities and conduct research on tax issues and/or legislation.
3. Meet with clients to identify and discuss sales and indirect tax issues.
4. Write reports and opinions to clients in relation to sales and indirect tax.
5. Drive to participate in professional development in order to become an experienced indirect tax professional.
6. Proactively collaborate with our professional colleagues.
7. Assist business development management for target industries and sectors, and support client business requirements in new and innovative ways.
8. Participate in the overall development of the Doane Grant Thornton brand through internal and external activities and knowledge of industry.
9. Coach and actively collaborate with more junior tax team members, ensuring a meaningful real-time feedback and periodic performance review process.
10. Leverage technical proficiency to advise and guide team members.
11. Attend client and stakeholder meetings with the Tax team.
12. Assist the Partners and Principals with overall practice strategy including colleague development and risk management.
13. Local travel required.
14. Other projects as assigned.

1. An accounting designation preferred.
2. Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth GST/HST course or equivalent.
3. A minimum of 7 years of experience in providing sales tax services.
4. Proven ability to deliver full cycle of project management capabilities.
5. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
6. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite. Advanced skills in both Excel and Word.
7. Ability to execute on deliverables in a deadline-driven environment.
8. Results oriented with a sense of urgency. Quick learner, self-starter and exudes a “can do” attitude.
9. Good understanding of team dynamics and cohesion. Strong team player and collaborator.
10. Desire to learn and grow, and be an integral part of a high-performing team.

At Doane Grant Thornton, we’re committed to ensuring our compensation practices are fair, equitable and competitive. To get the conversation started, we’re happy to share that our current base salary for this role ranges from $120,000 - $140,000 in Vancouver, BC. If this role is available in another location(s), the associated salary range in that location(s) may vary based on relevant factors, including geography.
