About the team you are joining

Led by the Head Flight Operations, the team is responsible for the development and roll-out of global standards, policies and positions papers related to the flight operations meteorology area. All members of the team have a direct interface with the International Civil Aviation Organization and other international bodies.

The incumbent will be responsible to ensure that IATA positions and policies related to the meteorology area are developed and coordinated internally and across IATA regions, such that our resources are used efficiently.

You will work with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders and drive industry initiatives across international bodies.

What your day would be like

  • Lead the industry’s development of more data-driven aviation meteorology tools in flight.
  • Support the development of appropriate training programs focusing on meteorology.
  • Identify programs and services that can provide more meteorological forecasts and predictions for the benefit of IATA members.
  • Provide flight technical expertise to support IATA members’ requirements.
  • Assist the Head Flight Operations in ensuring the efficient running of the flight operations area.
  • Provide appropriate flight operations expertise as required to ensure that our members' needs are represented in terms of sustainability initiatives.
  • Support all IATA advocacy requirements, including but not limited to work engagements with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Original Aircraft Manufacturers (OEMs) and others in relation to the technical operations area.
  • Support the Head Flight Operations to identify and drive new initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability, as well as to help recognize, define and execute commercial opportunities of value to our members and IATA.

We would love to hear from you if

  • 5-7 years' experience as manager within an airline meteorology forecasting team, as well as knowledge in flight dispatch.
  • Experience at implementing airline meteorological tools.
  • Pilot license is a plus.
  • An appropriate aviation degree or license.
  • The ability to drive collaborations and knowledge exchange across IATA, including our regions, as well as with external partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
