What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Events, will support RBC’s efforts to shape the conversation around critical issues affecting Canada’s economy and society.
In this role, you will lead in the designing, planning, and executing high-impact events that amplify and engage key audiences for RBC’s thought leadership initiatives. These events will include webinars, senior executive roundtables, conferences, and exclusive executive gatherings, showcasing RBC’s research and insights to key audiences, including business leaders, policymakers, sustainability practitioners, and informed public.
The ideal candidate bring exceptional, senior project and stakeholder management skills and a passion for creating memorable, seamless, and engaging event experiences that elevate RBC’s profile as a leading voice in Thought Leadership.
What will you do?
- Lead the end-to-end development and execution of events, including virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats.
- Lead on the development of event concepts and agendas in collaboration with researchers, writers, and amplification teams to align with thought leadership priorities.
- Lead the coordination of logistics such as venue selection, catering, AV setup, event registration, and on-site staffing.
- Lead internal and external stakeholder management, including with high-profile speakers, industry experts, and vendors, to deliver exceptional events.
- Actively build and maintain relationships with key audiences, including CEOs, business leaders, sustainability practitioners, and government officials.
- Act as the main point of contact for all event-related inquiries and communications.
- Partner with the amplification team to promote events through social media, email marketing, and RBC-owned channels.
- Create event materials, such as invites, agendas, follow-up reports, and summary notes.
- Leverage events to maximize exposure for RBC’s research, insights, and reports.
- Manage and report on event budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while delivering high-quality experiences.
- Track and analyze event performance metrics, including attendance, engagement, and post-event impact, to inform future strategies.
- Stay informed on event trends, technologies, and best practices to introduce innovative ideas that enhance the attendee experience.
- Ensure events reflect RBC’s commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 7+ years of experience in event planning and management, including experience with executive-level and/or thought leadership events.
- Proven success in managing large-scale events as well as high-profile, executive gatherings and roundtables
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple events simultaneously.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging senior-level stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving under tight deadlines.
- Experience working with virtual and hybrid event platforms (e.g., Webex, Slido).
