Department Overview

Conduct risk may lead to legal, reputational, and financial impact that can adversely affect customers, the market, employees, and the organization. TD has prioritized conduct risk management to protect, to maintain trust, and to foster a culture of integrity and accountability with our customers, the market, our employees, and the organization. Conduct risk may arise from, but not limited to, business practices, customer interactions, product design, market manipulation, and individual behaviour. TD identifies, assesses, and manages conduct risk through the execution of wide-ranging processes and procedures. TD Business Lines and Corporate Functions are expected to establish, implement, and maintain conduct risk management procedures and controls, as appropriate, in alignment with TD's policies and in compliance with the laws and regulations that apply in the jurisdictions in which they operate, and to align with TD's Shared Commitments, TD's Code of Conduct and Ethics, and TD's desired culture.

Enterprise Conduct Risk Management

  • Owns the TD Conduct Risk Management Policy and assess the adherence to the Policy through testing, analysis of conduct related issues, and effective challenge.
  • Provides enterprise-wide aggregate conduct risk reporting.
  • Owns the enterprise governance model for conduct risk management.
  • Maintains the reporting framework for enterprise conduct risk data aggregation and analysis and reports an aggregated view of key conduct risk metrics, issues, and trends to the Conduct Risk Management Committee (CRMC), Enterprise Risk Management Committee (ECRM), and the Corporate Governance Committee (CGC).

About this role

Enterprise Conduct Risk Management is fully independent of the business lines as a second line of defense risk management function. Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Conduct, Insider and Fraud Risk Management, the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence and Risk Reporting will lead and act as subject matter expertise in Business Intelligence and Risk Reporting for enterprise Conduct Risk Management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the enterprise conduct risk management reporting for the various risk management committees, including at the Board level.
  • Lead and execute data/business analysis using various internal data sources to produce the quarterly risk profile of enterprise conduct risk management.
  • Provides comprehensive analytical support, interpretation of complex data and generate multi-dimensional insights that provides a holistic view of conduct risk management and identifies themes, emerging requires that require action.
  • This role works in partnership with business segments to present or generate appropriate insights including the delivery of supporting collateral and/or presentations.
  • Researches and analyzes industry intelligence and incorporates within internal reporting.
  • Reviews and assesses all current conduct risk metrics to determine effectiveness and develop new conduct risk metrics as required.
  • Updates reporting to provide a jurisdictional view of founded code breaches, and commentary where applicable.
  • Updates reporting to include a more in-depth summary of the completion of the self-assessment by the business segments/corporate functions and include insights on themes or systemic concerns across business segments, along with relevant action plans identified to close any gaps.
  • Develops an internal annual attestation process with key data owners of data used by Enterprise Conduct Risk Management to attest and to provide a level of evidence of their own testing/validation confirming the data shared is accurate and complete and fit for reporting purposes.
  • Provides consultative support, business insight, advice, and expertise to guide decision making and/or strategic planning by leveraging and interpreting data and analytical models to provide business specific or broad strategic insight and using a variety of audience-specific communication techniques.
  • Provides oversight and challenge of the first line's conduct risk reporting.
  • Leads the development of and management of the Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) measure at the enterprise, U.S. and Segment level.
  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required.
  • Works with the various business segments in the event of a segment Conduct RAS breach to document root cause and remediation plans.
  • Supports all relevant projects and initiatives to ensure project data and reporting requirements are met.
  • Builds and maintain detailed documentation on all projects/requests.
  • Ensures all projects are delivered according to department standards and guidelines.
  • Sets operational team direction to align, collaborate and execute on common goals.
  • Focuses on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater).

Job Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate in data analytics and risk reporting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Risk Management experience
  • People Management experience
  • Ten (10) or more years relevant experience
