Senior Mainframe Security Architect to Develop and Implement Security Frameworks for Mainframe Environments

Job Type: Contract

Our client is seeking a Senior Mainframe Security Architect to develop and implement security frameworks for mainframe environments.

Duration: 1 year with multiple extensions

Work Mode: 100% Remote

Responsibilities:

  1. Work with client, sales teams, proposal managers, and vendors to architect solutions.
  2. Collaborate with client Mainframe system programmers and Project Managers to deliver architected solutions.
  3. Document solutions including roadmaps, design documents, diagrams, and project plans, using relevant documentation tools such as Word, Visio, MS Project, and/or PowerPoint.
  4. Work closely with various teams to gather business and technical requirements.
  5. Perform and balance tasks on multiple concurrent projects across multiple customers.
  6. Mediate and manage architectural conditions including those that are contractually required.
  7. Educate, mentor, and coach teams in applying architectural techniques.

Must Haves:

  1. Primary role: Mainframe Security System ACF2 & RACF SME/Architect.
  2. Strong understanding of Mainframe software and hardware – specifically a minimum of 8 years’ experience as a z/OS System Programmer.
  3. Strong people management and interpersonal communication skills.
  4. Able to act as technical lead in resolving difficult problems.
  5. Able to handle multiple tasks across potentially multiple projects.
  6. Able to work off hours when required.
  7. Able to accurately document technical artifacts.
  8. Proven track record of achieving win/win scenarios.

Ideal (Preferred):

  1. SMP/E and system utilities, ACF2, RACF, IO Gen (HCD), Assembler Language knowledge, and ability to develop, maintain, and deploy Assembler code, BMC & IBM Scheduler software, TSO, ISPF, understanding of problem & change management (eESM experience is an asset), Install and support program products, installing simple to complex (tape management, job scheduling) products, JES2 and JES3 advanced skills.
  2. Diagnostic skills: PD (problem determination), IPCS, LOGREC.
  3. Understanding of SYSPLEX concepts, familiarity with CPU keys (ordering, applying), experience working with vendors (IBM and others).
