Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Logistics Manager to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee all logistics operations on the construction site, ensuring that materials, equipment, and workforce are efficiently managed to support the successful completion of the Airport Development Project.
This role requires extensive construction experience, strong logistical coordination skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive logistics plan to manage the flow of materials, equipment, and workforce to and from the construction site.
- Coordinate the delivery, storage, and distribution of construction materials, ensuring that everything is available when needed to maintain project timelines.
- Work closely with site managers, project teams, and contractors to ensure that all logistics activities are properly integrated into the construction schedule.
- Ensure smooth and timely delivery of materials and equipment to the construction site, coordinating with suppliers, transport companies, and subcontractors.
- Supervise the site delivery schedules to minimize delays and disruptions to construction activities.
- Oversee the loading and unloading of materials and equipment on-site, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
- Manage the tracking and inventory of materials on-site, ensuring that stock levels are optimized to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Implement effective storage and handling procedures for materials to avoid damage and waste.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure that all necessary materials are ordered and delivered according to the construction timeline.
- Oversee the transportation of materials, machinery, and equipment to the site, ensuring that deliveries are made on time and within budget.
- Coordinate the movement of heavy equipment and machinery on-site, ensuring that all equipment is utilized efficiently and safely.
- Monitor the maintenance and servicing of construction equipment, ensuring that machinery is operational and available when needed.
- Ensure that all logistics operations are conducted in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to implement site-specific safety protocols, ensuring the safety of all logistics operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of delivery vehicles, equipment, and storage facilities to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Lead and manage a logistics team, providing direction and support for the efficient execution of logistics operations on-site.
- Conduct regular training and performance reviews for logistics staff, ensuring that the team is properly equipped and skilled to carry out their duties.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment, ensuring that logistics operations align with overall project objectives.
- Develop and manage the logistics budget, ensuring that logistics activities are performed within the allocated budget.
- Monitor and control logistics-related costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, tracking expenses, and providing recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain clear and open communication with senior management, project teams, and external stakeholders regarding logistics status and any potential issues.
- Provide regular updates on logistics operations, progress, and any potential delays to ensure alignment with overall project goals.
- Coordinate with other project managers to resolve any logistical challenges that could impact the schedule or budget.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in logistics and construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior logistics or construction coordination role.
- Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, especially in the aviation or construction sectors.
- Solid experience in managing logistics operations for construction sites, including the transportation of materials, machinery, and equipment.
- Strong understanding of construction logistics, material management, and transportation systems.
- Proficiency with logistics and project management software (e.g., SAP, Procore, MS Project).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and logistics best practices.
- PMP, Six Sigma, or other relevant certifications in logistics or project management.
- Experience in airport construction logistics or similar large-scale infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the latest logistics technologies and tools for efficient material tracking and equipment management.
- Strong ability to anticipate logistical challenges and resolve issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Proven leadership ability in managing diverse teams and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
