Our client is looking for a Junior Underwriter in Oakville, Ontario.

This is a hybrid role where you will be required to go into the office 3 times a week.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 Hours/week, 9-5 Monday to Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating closely with agents, brokers, lenders, and clients, you'll gather essential data and offer expert advice.
  • Examine policy orders thoroughly, liaise with external entities to detect potential fraudulent transactions by reaching out to solicitors on record, lenders, and the Insured as needed, acquire sub-searches, and utilize identity authentication services if necessary.
  • Draft and elucidate non-standard Schedule B exceptions and endorsements, and collaborate with solicitors to discuss them.
  • Aid in the issuance of Managed Mortgage Solutions policies by assessing title searches, surveys, writ of execution searches, commitments to insure, and writ of execution searches.
  • Remain informed about underwriting guidelines by actively participating in underwriting meetings; stay current with new or updated statutes throughout Canada.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a real estate law firm preferred.
  • Professionalism and customer service driven.
  • Good understanding of the mechanics of a real estate transaction, and knowledge of Land Titles.
  • Strong communication – written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Technologically savvy.
