AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a Senior (Lead) Electrical Engineer - Transit Facilities with extensive experience on transit projects to join our team. This role is based out of the Markham, ON office with opportunities for remote and hybrid work.

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to:

  1. Transit and Municipal projects
  2. Commercial projects
  3. Institutional projects
  4. Justice, Education and Government projects

Major Responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  1. Leading electrical design on high-profile transit projects, requiring weekly visits to the project office in downtown Toronto.
  2. Coordinating electrical systems with other disciplines and preparing Project Agreement Technical requirements to meet project requirements.
  3. Designing electrical normal, UPS and emergency power systems and developing One-Line Diagrams.
  4. Performing Site Surveys for information gathering and panel inventory at facilities for study purposes.
  5. Producing quality electrical engineering plans, ensuring compliance with department, project, company, utility and regional electrical entity, meeting industry requirements and standards.
  6. Preparing Lighting plans including open area zoning lighting controls.
  7. Preparing fire alarm systems design including devices layout, riser diagram, and zones schedules.
  8. Serving as an interface between the Electrical Engineering team and other engineering services to facilitate departmental relations and achieve efficiently coordinated projects.
  9. Performing Grounding Grid Design and Calculation as per IEEE-80, NEC and Client requirements.
  10. Creating Coordination study reports and providing electrical calculations for various facilities.
  11. Recommending protective device settings to achieve device coordination for various facilities.
  12. Supervising and mentoring electrical team members.

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must possess no less than:

  1. A University Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Six (6) years of experience as a licensed Electrical Engineer.
  3. Experience doing electrical design work on transportation projects for clients such as TTC, VIA, Mx, CN and other regional or municipal transit agencies.

Preferred Requirements:

  1. Fifteen (15) years of electrical design experience on transportation projects.
  2. Experience performing Power System Analysis, Arc Flash Evaluations, Short Circuit Analysis, Equipment Evaluation and Protective Device Coordination using SKM.
  3. Ability to analyze 208V, 480V, 4.16kV, 13.8kV and 27.6KV, 44KV systems as per OESC, OBC, NEC, NFPA and IEEE standards.
  4. Proficiency with REVIT, AUTOCAD, Microstation, ETAP and SKM software.
  5. Knowledge of TGS, LEED and Net Zero standards.

Relocation is not available for this position.
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Travel to construction sites to conduct mechanical inspections and prepare reports is required. Some out-of-town travel expected.
