IT Careers at The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda

Current IT job opportunities are posted here as they become available.

For more than 130 years, The Salvation Army (TSA) has had the privilege of serving vulnerable people in communities across Canada and Bermuda. Last year, we helped over 2 million people, providing necessities of life such as food, clothing, and shelter. Our work goes beyond that to include supporting people through unemployment, loneliness, finding church community, and responding to family challenges. We continually adapt to meet emerging needs.

These are exciting times at The Salvation Army as we launch a significant digital and business transformation. We are in the midst of revolutionizing our core capabilities to maximize service and mission outcomes. This will include an integrated platform for relationship and people management, learning, intranet, and data warehouse. In order to achieve all this, we are now recruiting for a Senior Labour Relations Analyst for our Human Relations team.

The Senior Labour Relations Analyst plays a critical role in shaping and executing the organization's labor relations strategy. With a background in managing and supporting complex labor environments, this role will be part of a team accountable to review and harmonize over 70 existing labour agreements. This role will work with relevant stakeholders to identify, document, analyze, and report data needed for the overarching transformation.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity with the potential for extension or transitioning to a permanent role.

What you will be doing:

  1. Support the review and harmonization of 70+ labor agreements across diverse organizational units – ensuring they reflect organizational priorities.
  2. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather and document information on existing agreements and practices.
  3. Conduct analysis of labour agreements, identifying inconsistencies and areas for standardization.
  4. Prepare reports and recommendations based on findings, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  5. Develop and document business requirements, processes, and reports as needed.
  6. Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to streamline labour relations practices.
  7. Develop and document options and recommendations to issues and problems.
  8. Support key stakeholders in understanding the implications of options and decisions to enhance employee satisfaction, improve workplace conditions, and manage workforce transitions effectively.
  9. Ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations during the harmonization process.
  10. Prepare and deliver presentations.

What you bring to the table:

  1. Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., SHRM, CLRP) is preferred.
  2. 7+ years of hands-on experience with either business analyst functions and/or supporting labour relations in complex organizations.
  3. Deep knowledge of labour laws, union dynamics, and dispute resolution practices.
  4. Pragmatic and able to simply communicate complex problems and solutions.
  5. Demonstrated ability to document business processes, procedures, and requirements in a straightforward manner.
  6. Demonstrated ability to quickly build strong trust-based relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders.
  7. Proven ability to prioritize, schedule and perform work to meet deadlines and commitments, and work within a team environment.
  8. Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing labor relations challenges.

What We Promise:

  • Belonging to a creative, dynamic team of IT professionals where what you do will make a difference in your own backyard and across Canada & Bermuda.
  • Work from home and flexible hours.
  • Continuous learning and growth through challenging work.
  • The chance to be part of a leading digital and business transformation for over 100,000 employees and volunteers.
  • An opportunity to launch and/or grow your career with a huge, stable, international not-for-profit organization.
