Senior Human Resources Generalist
1 FTE
Thunder Bay Site
One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres, is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.
We are currently seeking a 1 FTE Senior Human Resources Generalist who will be a leader responsible for overseeing all facets of the HR function, including labour and employee relations, recruitment, and health and safety. This role supports an experienced and dynamic Organizational Health Team to achieve the NorWest CHC’s goal of strengthening our organizational culture by fostering a healthy and engaging work environment where people contribute and realize their full potential.
The position has excellent group health benefits, a competitive salary and the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan is an additional benefit. This is a new position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, or equivalent education and experience.
- Three to five years’ senior level human resources work experience in a unionized setting in a non-profit, health care sector is preferred.
- Member of the Human Resources Professional Association of Ontario is required.
- Professional HR designation (CHRP or CHRL) is preferred or willing to work towards.
- Experienced in collective agreement administration and providing collective agreement and payroll advice to management and staff in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and experience implementing current occupational health and safety legislation.
- Experience with Disability claims management.
- Experience leading an organization’s talent acquisition strategy.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of provincial employment/labour law, preferably within a healthcare facility setting. This includes familiarity with statutory legislations such as Ontario Payroll regulations, ESA, Human Rights, AODA, OHSA, etc. is required.
- Experienced in the maintenance and operations of a Human Resources Information Management System with an integrated HR/Payroll system.
- Excellent knowledge and proficiency in various software applications including data management, spreadsheets and applicable Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Exceptional problem solving, organizational and prioritization skills in a fast paced environment with a high level of professionalism and diplomacy.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
