Are you a strategic HR professional with a passion for building strong organizational partnerships and driving impactful HR initiatives? If so, we want you to join our team as a Senior Human Resources Advisor!

In this pivotal role, you will support people leaders in managing complex HR challenges while aligning with our company’s business objectives. This is a dynamic role that requires an experienced individual to work closely with people leaders, executing HR programs, and managing various employee relations and compliance matters.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will act as a strategic partner, delivering expert guidance across a broad spectrum of HR functions, including employee relations, organizational design, workforce planning, talent development, employee engagement, and the execution of key HR programs and initiatives. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring alignment between HR strategies and business objectives, while also ensuring compliance with federal employment laws, regulations, and industry standards. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, combined with strong collaboration with leadership teams, to foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and high performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Partnership: Act as a strategic partner with people leaders, providing expert guidance across various HR functions, ensuring alignment between HR strategies and business objectives.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance: Lead and resolve employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with the Canada Labour Code and company policies while maintaining adherence to federal laws and industry standards.
  • HR Program Execution: Collaborate with the Senior HR Manager to take charge of executing key HR programs across talent management, employee engagement, compensation, benefits, and diversity & inclusion.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Monitor and analyze HR metrics to assess program effectiveness and provide data-driven insights to leadership.
  • Change Management: Support leaders and employees through organizational changes, promoting adaptability and resilience while aligning with business objectives.
  • Workforce Planning & Transformation: Collaborate with business leaders on workforce planning, organizational restructuring, and ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Organizational Alignment: Build strong partnerships with business units to ensure alignment with overall strategic goals, fostering success across the organization.
  • Social Responsibility & HR Initiatives: Contribute to HR programs supporting the organization’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
  • Leadership Development & Manager Support: Collaborate with Learning & Organizational Development to enhance leadership and employee development while empowering managers to act as HR ambassadors.
  • Collaboration on HR Projects: Lead or participate in HR projects, ensuring the successful execution of initiatives aligned with business priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree and/or Diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration. Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) is an asset.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including strategic and consultative responsibilities, with a solid understanding of the Canada Labour Code.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and experience with HRIS systems.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to build rapport across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently, handle complex issues, and make sound decisions.
  • Proven ability to enforce policies and drive a culture of compliance.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong judgment in decision-making, ensuring alignment with company values.
  • Ability to influence, inspire, and coach stakeholders on a variety of interests and needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while ensuring safety and quality.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong project management skills and proficiency in HR best practices.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with colleagues and clients.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work environment (2 days in-office, 3 days remote), with potential for additional office days based on business needs.
  • Standard office hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility for extended hours as required.
  • Travel: 5% to 10%, primarily between Calgary and Edmonton.
