Senior Ground Software Engineer

Description

As our Senior Ground Software Engineer/MTS, you will be instrumental in using your skill and experience as part of a team to design, implement, maintain, and test software solutions that are modular, extendable, testable, and efficient. You will work on web and AR/VR based ground control software, simulators, and test tools to support control of robotic arms, rovers, and other robotics in space. You will lead difficult and complicated subsystem designs and implementations helping to grow the skills of more junior teammates through mentoring and coaching.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead designs for ground control software, simulators, and test tools for robotic systems in space.
2. Lead designs for intuitive and immersive user interfaces.
3. Ensure designs are documented and well communicated.
4. Lead and participate in implementation and testing of software solutions.
5. Review the work of teammates (senior and junior).
6. Mentor and grow the skills of more junior team members via conversations, review of work products, explanation of design tradeoffs, etc.
7. Lead estimation efforts for new tasks.
8. Collaborate with other seniors and management on the establishment, evolution, and enforcement of standards for coding, tools/environments, processes, etc.
9. Other duties as will be assigned from time to time by management or a team lead.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MUST HAVES:

1. 10+ years of experience with Angular and C# ASP.NET (7 years if they are strong).
2. 5+ years of experience with Automation Test Development - Using test tools like Cucumber, End Unit, Catch 2 testing frameworks.
3. Previous experience with Object Oriented Design solution and associated principles.
4. Agile Development Environment - if they have not worked in Agile, they need to be comfortable working in this environment.

NICE TO HAVES:

1. React.js.
2. Node.js.
3. ATDD, TDD, BDD are optional/value added if the automated testing experience is of another sort.
4. Continuous integration/build automation.
5. Python and Lua would be an asset.

Required Skills/Experience

• Strong written/verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of one or more of: React, Node.js, C#, C/C++.
• Bachelor degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

Beneficial Skills/Experience

• Test driven development (TDD, ATDD, BDD).
• Continuous integration/build automation.
• Python and Lua would be an asset.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
