Senior Geologist, Global Exploration

We are searching for a Senior Geologist to join our corporate exploration team and work with our highly successful and dedicated global exploration teams located in Canada and Mexico. The Senior Geologist will assist with building capability within our exploration teams by providing a high level of technical leadership across all disciplines of geoscience. You will contribute to the success of our exploration projects by being involved in special initiatives and ensuring short, medium and long term exploration objectives are achieved.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Facilitating critical thinking and application of a Mineral Systems approach to gold exploration through active engagement in all of the company’s exploration programs
• Work collaboratively with Alamos exploration teams by leading and monitoring geochemical, structural and other studies to complement site-based exploration programs.
• Mentoring and support to the next generation of Alamos geoscientists to encourage technical excellence
• Effective communication of exploration results to the corporate team.
• Ensure alignment between site based exploration and Alamos’ corporate exploration objectives
• Management of special technical projects as required including orientation studies
• Identify and generate new exploration opportunities

Qualifications and Requirements

• Registered professional geologist
• Well versed in economic geology, with multi-year experience in gold exploration either in an exploration or production setting
• Demonstrated ability for collecting, interpreting and generating targets from geological data (core logging and mapping data)
• A willingness to be mentored and a dedication to geoscience exploration best practice
• Ability to integrate geoscience innovation and research to ensure successful exploration programs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in geological modelling and GIS
• We are looking for a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
• Experience with 3D modelling software and GIS preferably Leapfrog, Micromine, and ArcGIS
• This role is based in Toronto at the Corporate Head Office but will require frequent travel to sites as needed
