Job description

Job Family Group: Data Analytics & Reporting

The successful candidate will be responsible for data modelling within BMO’s instance of Anaplan to support BMO’s planning and forecasting functions within Finance. The individual should possess an Anaplan Certified Model Builder accreditation with field experience implementing various large-scale projects utilizing iterative/agile project management methodology and domain best practices.

The candidate will be the subject matter expert for data integration, translation, and transformation from input sources into models/reports/dashboards and will coordinate with various business and technology stakeholders to develop intermediate/advanced business intelligence models, interpreting business requirements into effective solution designs.

The incumbent should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to use creative thinking to solve complex business/technical problems.

Qualifications:

  • 3-4 years’ experience as an Anaplan Certified Model Builder
  • Minimum 2-3 years of Anaplan implementation experience, covering at least 4 projects as a Model Builder
  • Ability to review existing models in line with best practices and build customized Anaplan models based on customer requirements
  • Collaborate with the project team to build Anaplan models in line with best practices and leadership guidance with adherence to any applicable governance requirements and project management methodology
  • Provide training to project team members and stakeholders as required
  • Strong knowledge of Excel – develop macros, model large data sets
  • Ability to translate Excel-based spreadsheets/templates into effective and efficient Anaplan model designs following best practices
  • Experience with some mix of Oracle, OneStream, or other complex modelling tools
  • Subject matter experience in various Finance domains such as Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Experience in areas such as Finance transformation, process transformation, planning/forecasting, business management, and reporting
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group
  • Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives
  • Recommends and implements solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans
  • Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making
  • Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders and ensures alignment
  • Supports the development of tools and delivers training for data analytics and AI
  • Leads/participates in the design, implementation, and management of core business/group processes
  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or other quantitative disciplines and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience with distributed computing language (e.g. Hive/Hadoop/Spark) & cloud technologies (e.g. AWS Sagemaker, AzureML)
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g. SQL, Python, R, SAS, SPSS, Perl) and machine learning/deep learning algorithms/packages (e.g. XGBoost, H2O, SparkML)
  • Deep proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms
