What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Sr Manager of Financial Planning, this position plays an important part of the ongoing implementation and testing of our new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (Workday). As part of the Financial Planning team, you will facilitate testing for Workday and provide financial analysis and reporting.

Duties for this new role include, but are not limited to:

  • Finance representative on the Workday Governance and change management committee;
  • Assisting in performing testing/verification and development/modification of business processes related to the regular system updates;
  • Assisting in the development, modification, and verification of Workday Reports and Dashboards containing financial information;
  • Leading the development and delivery of new Workday Finance functionality, training, and review of system access/internal controls within Workday;
  • Providing financial advice, analysis and support in preparation of budget submission business cases involving confidential information such as HR/employment information;
  • Preparing ad-hoc reports/analysis for various stakeholders including senior leadership team and Council, public documents and presentations;
  • Providing financial advice, analysis and support in reviewing/projecting budget performance, calculating and examining variances, and forecasting future revenues/expenditures based on trends;
  • Leading meetings with program or project managers to discuss financial performance, causes of variances, financial projections, and reporting needs;
  • Assisting in preparing reports to Council on budget performance and seeking budget adjustment authorization in compliance with policy;
  • Ensuring all financial requirements are met including year-end carry forward and accrual requests, account reconciliations and correcting/adjusting journal entries;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Using your extensive knowledge and experience in systems implementation allows you to navigate through complex projects and recommend practical ways forward. You demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with a broad range of partners.

What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant, you must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a university with specialization in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Finance or a closely related Field;
  • Professional certification as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA);
  • Advanced knowledge and work experience with Workday Financials;
  • Workday Finance/Adaptive certifications would be an asset;
  • A minimum of five years of progressive responsibility within a financial department, preferably in a Municipal environment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work to ensure that overall project deadlines are met, often navigating competing and dynamic priorities;
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to work and solve problems independently as well as within a team environment.

Salary Range/Hourly rate: $109,693.00 - $124,652.00

Hybrid information: Frontline Hybrid

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus additional hours as required.
