The Reporting department within Global Finance plays a key role in the reporting and analysis of the Bank's financial results at both the All Bank and Divisional levels.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be a member of the Global Finance Reporting department reporting to a manager. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for the financial reporting and analysis of periodic results, focusing on Global Banking & Markets (GBM). The incumbent will also be involved in the production of various periodic reports for executive management by highlighting significant trends, product and market developments, and economic factors that impact performance; and will contribute to the overall success of Global Finance – Reporting department ensuring specific individual goals and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of business strategies and objectives.

All activities must be conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  1. Assist with the delivery of periodic financials (Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet) on a timely basis while ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
  2. Assist with the preparation of periodic reporting on statutory and business line results for Global Banking and Markets.
  3. Communicate with individuals in various business units during periodic close and on an ongoing basis to coordinate and collect financial data from business units.
  4. Perform the reasonability of both statutory and business line financial results by ensuring the timely identification and resolution of all material issues. Maintain and implement new controls where needed.
  5. Review, analyze, and prepare statutory journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness within strict periodic timetables.
  6. Maintain and develop strong controls over operational and analytical processes.
  7. Communicate and resolve accounting and reporting issues with business units and management.
  8. Liaise closely with business line Finance partners to maintain knowledge of emerging business line issues that impact various business lines and effectively resolve them.
  9. Participate in projects as assigned, such as developing financial metrics and analytical tools, Global Finance initiatives. Identify and act upon efficiency opportunities.
  10. Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  11. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  12. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of respective areas, ensuring adherence to day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  13. Support manager and senior manager in efforts to enhance reporting processes.
  14. Assist with the annual business line rule set up and chart of account (COFA) management processes.
  15. Identify issues and make recommendations with a focus on process improvement.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned to support the department’s goals.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Accounting designation Canadian CPA (CMA, CGA, CA) or MBA, with at least 2 years related work experience.
  • Solid business acumen and strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to relate financial data to business results and identify issues and trends.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities to execute varied activities within tight deadlines and deliver with a great amount of accuracy and completeness whilst demonstrating excellent time management skills.
  • The ability to communicate, both orally and in written form, with individuals at different levels and a variety of skill sets and organizational perspectives.
  • Good proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Excel, e.g., VLOOKUP, SUMMIF, SUMMPRODUCT, PIVOT; Word, PowerPoint.
  • This position requires a strong customer service attitude and proactive approach to resolving complex business issues.
  • The position requires a high level of flexibility to adapt quickly to a dynamic business environment.
