Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate actively in the monthly, quarterly and annual close. Ensure an accurate and timely monthly and year-end close.
- Take responsibility for the maintenance of the general ledger as well the balance sheet reconciliations.
- Draft and review complete quarterly external financial statements with notes.
- Participate in the preparation of the quarterly Management’s Discussion and Analysis.
- Participate in the preparation of the audit file and support the audit completion on an annual basis.
- Participation in the preparation of financial presentations (e.g.: Management Committee, Bank, etc.).
- Maintain business processes and accounting policies and assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
- Assure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS) and tax requirements.
- Aid with other on-going and ad hoc analyses and preparation of various information.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as requested by the Assistant Controller.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, with strong experience in external reporting.
- CPA required
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Attention to detail is a must.
- Sold work ethic, results oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently deliver on time with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively within a team environment to achieve shared goals.
- Sound judgment and high standard of ethics required.
- Ability to perform all work in support of our Corporate Values of Service, Integrity, Excellence, and Teamwork
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities:

Managers are responsible for:
- Providing a safe and healthy workplace including the necessary equipment, systems, and tools which are properly maintained.
- Providing information, training, instruction, and supervision to protect the Occupational Health and Safety of Employees
- Ensuring Employees under their direction know and comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Ensuring Employees under their direction receive adequate supervision.
- Establishing, supporting, and consulting with Occupational Health and Safety committees and Workplace Occupational Health and Safety representatives on all matters to improve workplace Occupational Health and Safety including regular safety inspections of the workplace.
Security Clearance Requirements/ CGP / ITAR:
Position requires II Clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
