About this opportunity: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data and IT Business Office, the Senior Financial Advisor's primary responsibility will be to provide operational oversight of the Data and IT budget life-cycle. This role will contribute to budgetary control and cost containment in D&IT in terms of goal setting, achieving results and course correction.

What you'll do:

  1. Assist in ensuring that spend is within the allocated annual budget, validating and investigating unplanned spend requests.
  2. Responsible for monthly reconciliation of SAP actuals vs budget for the current year budget, obtaining workflow approvals for spend requests, and forecasting impact of new spend/projects on future year expense budgets.
  3. Drive the monthly/annual/multi-year Corporate Planning budgeting/forecasting process for the IT organization (reconciliation, variance analysis, accruals).
  4. Meet with extended IT Leadership team to forecast financial changes in response to changes in IT solutions.
  5. Communicate and analyze the complexities of the financial and business results to various teams.
  6. Work across the organization to identify and assist in the implementation of corrective actions to close variances.
  7. Work closely with the IT Portfolio team as accounting treatment changes from capital to expense and expense to capital.
  8. Liaise with Corporate Accounting to structure monthly pre-pay, journal and accruals submissions.

Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  1. Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  2. Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a financial advisory/analysis focused role.
  3. Understanding of accounting policy (IFRS) on Accruals, Capitalization, and Assets/Liability presentation.
  4. CPA Designation and graduate degree in Accounting or Finance are assets.
  5. Advanced SAP skills.
