Senior Finance Analyst (Centre of Store Merchandising)

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Finance Analyst (Centre of Store Merchandising) to join our Finance team in Langley, BC.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for working closely with Operations and various other business areas, performing a variety of financial activities including analysis, modeling, forecasting, and budgeting. In this role, you will also provide internal stakeholders with insights regarding trends, opportunities for improvement and implications of business decisions.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting year-end priorities (including audit).
- Conducting financial analysis to explain variances, observe trends and uncover opportunities for improvement.
- Preparing monthly financial reports and commentary.
- Reviewing financial analysis and reporting prepared by other team members to ensure it meets established standards of quality and is meaningful to the intended audience.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of assigned financial business processes and working with the business, including implementing action plans to improve their effectiveness.
- Working with business areas to review financial processes and procedures, ensuring they are consistently followed, making recommendations for improvement and assisting to implement.
- Explaining financial implications of business decisions to management, providing financial training and assists with ad-hoc requests.
- Preparing financial requirements documentation to support year end audit for strategic initiatives and represents the finance team on various project teams, as required, to ensure requirements are met.
- Preparing ad-hoc financial analysis and reports and assists with special projects.
You have:- A CPA / CA / CGA / CMA designation (or working toward completion), or equivalent industry experience.
- Over 5 years' financial accounting experience (accounting, controls, systems), ideally within a retail environment.
- A strong background in varied financial systems and proven ability to understand complex processes.
- Previous experience with financial statement reporting and working with budgets.
- Advanced knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft desktop applications, including advanced Excel skills and general ledger system.
- Previous full cycle accounting or auditing experience considered an asset.
