Join the dynamic City Operations team and help shape the future of our city as a Senior Executive Advisor. Reporting directly to the Deputy City Manager (DCM), you will play a pivotal role in advancing strategic initiatives, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.

As a key managerial resource, your expertise will be instrumental in managing the Deputy City Manager's Office (DCMO) effectively. You will oversee activities such as Council and Committee reports, providing sound advice and managing complex issues related to departmental operations, project alignment, and stakeholder engagement.

What will you do?

  • Represent the DCM and the Department to support departmental operations, developing corporate initiatives, and acting as a project manager on various assignments.
  • Engage with all levels of the Corporation and external stakeholders to drive alignment, consistency, and continuity within the Department.
  • Develop and maintain innovative collaborative partnerships with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Oversee the Council and Committee report process for the City Operations department and ensure a level of quality that aligns with corporate expectations.
  • Maintain a high level of standard for all correspondence that is shared from the Deputy City Manager’s office.
  • Delegate responsibilities, research, and compile materials to support the DCM.
  • Act as the primary interface between Branch Manager offices and the DCMO.
  • Contribute to discussions, assess options, and consider implications for complex and sensitive issues with a focus on achieving department and corporate outcomes.
  • Anticipate business opportunities, influence policy, planning and initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability through performance measurement.
  • Integrate multi-disciplinary teams to work collaboratively with stakeholders supporting corporate priorities.
  • Build new and innovative collaborative partnerships with external agencies, orders of government, community organizations, and internal departments and branches.
Qualifications
  • Experience, knowledge, training and/or education in Political Science, Business or other related disciplines.
  • Experience in a large scale organization supporting senior leaders.
  • Combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Assets:

  • Masters Degree in a related field.
  • Experience in an operational environment or equivalent.

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:

  • 1 permanent, full-time position.
  • Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.
  • Salary Range: (Annually) $123,139.00 - $153,924.00.
  • Hire is dependent on a Criminal Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton. There may be a cost associated with this requirement.
