What You Will Do

Reporting to the Chief Engineer Mechanical, the incumbent is responsible for preparing conceptual and final mechanical engineering designs for industrial building services related to transit structures and facilities. Responsibilities include:

  1. Instructing, directing, and coordinating the work of Design Engineers and Engineering Technologists.
  2. Conducting and supervising design calculations, investigations, studies, and reports.
  3. Planning, managing, and coordinating projects.
  4. Supervising and reviewing the work of outside consultants.
  5. Supervising the production of standard drawings and performing field and shop drawing reviews.
  6. Taking professional responsibility for designs as required by the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  7. Representing the section on development reviews and assisting with the day-to-day management of the Mechanical Design section.

The incumbent demonstrates behaviors that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work environment free from discrimination and harassment. May be required to work outside normal hours for site visit inspections. Occasional attendance at track level will be required.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Completion of a university degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive supervisory work experience in a multidisciplinary design environment.
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for meetings.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of CADD MicroStation.
